Fabrics & Kits

New & Re-stocked Fabrics

:: “Tula Pink Widebacks” these very popular widebacks keep selling out! We have four of the colours back in stock.

:: “Antique Cotton Cheddar” by Pam Buda. Cheddar continues to enjoy its current resurgence in a rich range of tones, and Pam Buda interprets the look in small-scale prints with contemporary taupe and putty "friends", creatively bridging the space between tradition and trend.  5 bolts available.

:: “Rainbow Fish” Studio 37 fabrics. These kits sold out so quickly at AQC, but we have managed to get some more fabrics into stock, so we have more kits, and fabric on the bolt. But be quick before they run out again!

:: “Kaffe Grid Wall” Want your own design wall? Kaffe’s gridded flannel is perfect for placing out fabrics, and as Kaffe would know, the grey offsets all fabrics so is the perfect “neutral” for analysing your design/layout. Also great for making small design boards.

:: “Half Moon Quilt Kit” Also from Kaffe, another fantastic kit which our own Kylie has already made up.  Come into the shop to see her sample.  Easy piecing and fabulous fabrics!

:: “Cotton + Steel” We have a selection of very cute prints from those fantastic designers at Cotton + Steel

:: “Once Around” by Hoodie.  A selection of bold prints in primary colours and black and white.  Something a little different for you.

:: “Dream Blossom” by Lauren Wan for Hoffman Fabrics.  There is a free pattern from Hoffman to accompany these fabrics; a fussy cut quilt with easy piecing to highlight these beautiful prints.

Books

:: “Hat Creek Quilts” by Deirdre Bond-Abel.  Deirdre presents her first book, which gives prominence to wool appliqués in gleaming colours; she matches them to pieced blocks in highly original creations. She revisits motifs from the past, in a new style and in a palette of magnificent colours and materials! Seventeen quilt projects, wall hangings and accessories are fully explained.

:: “From the Linen Closet” by Dawn Heese.  In this book Dawn Heese offers a soothing return to the past through 17 charming folk art-style quilts and small projects. A gentle and warm ambiance and easy appliqué; one imagines oneself in a country home, a bunch of wildflowers on the table and a welcoming chair where it’s good to settle in and quilt. Thoroughly delightful!

:: “New York Beauties and Flying Geese” by Carl Hentsch.  Become a skilled foundation piecer with New York Beauty blocks and arcs of Flying Geese that amaze! Stitch your way through 31 architectural block patterns, ideal for advanced beginners and intermediate quilters. Practice this straightforward approach to curved piecing, foundation piecing, and simple machine appliqué on 10 full-size quilts and 27 pillow projects. Lively colour combinations provide movement and drama, with fabric selections from Tula Pink, in collaboration with Carl Hentsch.

Classes:
With the school holidays looming, we often have a few spots available with our regulars either away on holidays or on grandparents duty! If you're looking for a class to help you out with a quilt you're working on, or want help starting a new project, or just feel like some dedicated sewing time with some company, then give us a call and book a class! Simple as that - we'd love to have you join us.

Hope to see some of you at the Sydney Show!

Until next time

Carol
